AI Disclosure
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Yorus is a platform for creating and chatting with AI bots that respond to your inputs in fictional scenarios. This page explains how artificial intelligence ("AI") is used on Yorus and is intended to support transparency obligations, including the EU AI Act.
1. What AI Does on Yorus
Yorus uses AI systems for the following purposes:
- Narrative generation: during play sessions, AI models generate narration, dialogue, and story actions in response to your inputs and the bot definition involved.
- Persona context: when you use a saved persona, AI models use that persona snapshot as context for future replies.
- Content moderation (text): when a bot is submitted for publication, AI models screen the bot name, tagline, premise, definition, openings, and tags for policy compliance before the content is made public.
- Content moderation (images): uploaded cover images and persona avatars are screened by an AI image classifier before they are stored or displayed.
- Voice: when voice is enabled, selected text may be sent to a third-party text-to-speech provider to generate audio.
2. AI Service Providers
Yorus uses third-party AI service providers to perform the functions described in Section 1. Users with BYOK enabled may route normal story replies through their selected provider and model. BYOK story replies do not spend monthly reply credits. Supporting systems such as moderation, wall teasers, memory summaries, and voice may still use Yorus platform providers.
When you chat with a bot, your text inputs together with the relevant bot definition, persona context, and recent conversation context are sent to the selected reply provider to generate the next response. When you submit a bot or upload an image, that content is sent to a third-party provider for automated safety classification. When you request voice, the text to be spoken is sent to the voice provider.
Yorus does not train its own foundation models. We may add, remove, or replace AI service providers at any time as the underlying technology evolves. We will update this Disclosure to reflect material changes.
3. Human-Created vs. AI-Generated Content
- Human-created content: bot names, taglines, premises, definitions, opening messages, tags, uploaded images, profile information, and the text inputs you submit during play sessions are all created by human users.
- AI-generated content: the narration, character dialogue, and story actions produced during play sessions are generated by AI models in response to user inputs. These outputs are clearly presented within the play interface as part of the interactive story.
- AI-assisted moderation decisions: automated screening can approve, reject, or route submissions to manual review depending on the moderation result and provider availability. User reports and queued moderation items are reviewed by humans.
4. Limitations and Risks
AI-generated content may:
- Be factually inaccurate or historically incorrect;
- Produce unexpected, inconsistent, or nonsensical outputs;
- Reflect biases present in training data;
- Drift from a bot's definition or a character's described personality;
- Occasionally generate content that conflicts with our content policies despite safety measures.
AI-generated content does not represent the views, opinions, or endorsements of Yorus or its operator. Users should exercise their own judgment when engaging with AI-generated narratives, and should not treat AI output as factual, professional, medical, legal, or financial advice.
5. Data Handling by AI Providers
Text and images sent to AI service providers are processed in real time to produce a response or a moderation decision. Yorus does not train its own foundation models on your inputs. The AI service providers we use may, under their own terms or our agreement with them, retain submitted content for limited periods, use it for abuse monitoring, or process it in other ways. If you enable BYOK, the data handling terms of your selected provider and account may also apply.
6. Your Choices
Using Yorus inherently involves interacting with AI-generated content. If you do not wish to interact with AI systems, you should not start or continue play sessions. You may still browse public bot listings and profiles without triggering AI narrative generation.
7. EU AI Act Transparency
The EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) includes transparency rules for certain AI systems, including systems that interact with people and systems that generate synthetic content. Yorus addresses those transparency goals as follows:
- The product is presented as an AI bot chat service, and AI-generated narrative content appears inside the play interface as bot output;
- Discloses on this page the purposes for which AI is used and the general nature of the providers involved;
- Implements automated and human content moderation to reduce the risk of harmful AI outputs;
- Maintains human oversight of moderation decisions through admin review of flagged content and user reports.
